EVO Corse: Leading  Technology

 fem

Evo Corse racing wheel line uses all the best technology for production and design, in order to always supply a product of the higest quality.

Design starts from our decade long experience in every kind of racing wheel, using the best CAD/CAM technology and structural FEM simulation , to have the best optimization in the ratio of weight/resistance.

For this reason our 8x17" wheel for the  Mitsubishi EVO 8/9 fitment weighes only 8,9 kg!

Our design always considers the maximum protrusion that can be found on the modern brake callipers. For this reason the rim profile is not the same that is found on a normal street wheel, but has been  optimized for racing tire use.

Spoke design always allows the best brake cooling, without compromising the wheels resistance.

7x15-racing Small details that make the difference: Spoke profile and design is studied for the maximum ergonomic benefit during wheel substitution. Reinforced lips and spoke profiles are studied to insure maximum protection of the air valve against mud and stones.
7x15-AM All of these details are not a concern on a normal street wheel.
All our wheels are fitted with high strength steel inserts, CNC machined to allow always the best and most consistent bolt fixing.    pianta
tabella Our production starts from a fixed point for a wheel that can be defined as a "racing wheel": Primary aluminium alloy A356 with heat treatment T6, low pressure cast in a steel permanent mould. A process that ,for sure, is more expensive than a normal aftermarket rim (gravity cast and without heat treatment), but that can give ultimate performances without compromises.
We have included a simple matrix as an example that shows  our material characteristics  in the middle  grafico-materiale

On the next page please see the main differences between the two  typical casting processes used in the wheel industry: low pressure and gravity casting

Please, refer to our simple sketch showing the low pressure system

Main advantages are:

1) Quality and best reliability.

2) The reduction of all Imperfections due to gas or casting turbulences.

3) By filling at the centre of the mould you obtain the   best mechanical properties on the lips.

4) Best metal quality because of the absence of oxide (melted metal is pulled from the bottom)

With the gravity casting, the metal is poured into the mould from the wheel side and this can create some problems:

1)     The casting point is also the weakest point for the wheel

2)     Porosity, that is caused by gas inclusions into the metal

3)     Oxide are mixed into the melted metal and continuously created because the casting process is on open atmosphere.

4)     Irregular and "turbulent" mould filling.

Full front and rear precision machining is done on CNC equipment in order to reduce to "zero" any unbalance or production imperfections.
Painting is always giving the best protection against corrosion and wear, giving always the final look at the same level of fashion rims.
